Local attractions

A wonderful Norman village church (c1040 rebuilt c1100) – Blake’s Cottage where the poet William Blake lived for a few years. Another famous English poet, William Hayley also lived just around the corner in Turret House – a seaside park and a three mile promenade offers easy sea-side walking. Butlins Holiday complex is close-by too and is open to day-visitors for an entrance fee. A good 18 hole golf course is 5 minutes away by car and we have tennis courts and a putting green around the corner. The Arun Leisure Centre with swimming pool is also close-by.

A range of excellent facilities

White Horses was built as a comfortable family home next to the beach at Felpham at the turn of the twentieth century. It was constructed from local bricks and flints from the ancient sea bed of the South Downs. We have done our best to maintain the old character of the building together with providing the warmth and comfort the 21st century expects. We are situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac just twenty yards from the beach with easy access to our seaside three mile promenade. Only the reception area of our property is wheelchair accessible.

Bognor Regis Railway Station is about 1.5 miles away. Taxis are generally available, otherwise we are an enjoyable 20 minute walk away through the town and then along the promenade. A regular bus service also operates from the town or railway station to Felpham. The bus stop is about 400 yards away.

On occasions we do look after our daughters dog, but she does not have access to the guest accommodation. For the comfort of all our guests we do not accommodate pets in rooms.

Arrival and car parking facilities

We have off-road car parking facilities at the front of the property. Please enter via the walkway from car park and ring the doorbell at the front door.

Main entrance and reception

The main entrance opens to our reception area, where someone will be able to help you at most times. A bell to ring for our attention is located on the reception desk. We will give you a key to your room. It is important that the key is not lost! We do reserve the right to make a charge for any key not returned. This will be a minimum of £100.

Public areas – general (internal)

Our dining room is on the ground floor and is where breakfast is served at a time of your choice between 7:30 am and 9:30 am. We also serve tea and coffee at other times in the dining room. Guests are welcome to use the room for eating a take-away meal in the evening. We don’t have a dedicated guest sitting room at present.

Public areas – WC
We have a toilet for guest use in the hallway, on the ground floor.

We are happy to offer laundry facilities for guests staying for 3 nights or more.

We have a local village store 3 minutes away. They sell most items.

Leisure Facilities

We have a nearby hotel that has a small swimming pool and is available for non-residents use on payment of a small fee. The hotel also has a restaurant that is open to non-residents. In summer months you could brave the elements and swim in the sea nearby. You could also search for sea-bed fossils at low tide!

The sea and beach is a mere stones-throw away. We also have a putting green and tennis courts just around the corner.

Two lovely sea-side cafes are also located nearby. The Lobster Pot Café and restaurant is also open in the evenings, from March to October (closed Sunday and Monday). Best to book ahead for evening meals on 01243 862 751.

We have three double rooms, a family room with a double and a single bed. Plus a twin bedded room. All rooms are en-suite and are reached via a staircase to the ground floor. Individual room keys also open the front door to the house when it is locked, that is, at night. Please also be aware that we live in a hard water area which, for instance, results in limescale deposits in kettles etc. This is totally harmless and most would say that hard water is better for you!

Grounds and Gardens

The front garden has a few seats for sunny days and guests are welcome to have breakfast served on the patio if weather permits.
